Please allow me to present “my stuff” here.
Around 1995 I was lucky to get the chance to re-model a small room in the basement for my sole purpose – my system, records and a listening chair are the only furniture. Just one chair, I should mention – you should know that when I write „small room“ I mean that: on just 11 square meters I have the usual stereo setup plus more than 3000 records plus no less than 8 (eight!) quite large turntables..
The Thorens turntables are in majority – there’s a TD 124 and a TD 124 Mk. II, a TD 125 and a TD 125 LB and a TD 127.
Other brands: Dual 1019 and 1229 and the EMT 938.
The EMT is my reference turntable, equipped with the 929 tonearm and the legendary Tondose (TSD 15 SFL). The EMT 938 was designed for the use in broadcast studios and therefore has an in-built studio-grade preamp with RIAA-equalization so that it can be plugged directly into the line-input of my Rogers amplifier.
The Thorens TD 125 is factory-equipped with the TP-25 tonearm (that's the one the EMT guys took to develop the 929). Cartridge: Denon DL 103 SL or DL 109D (MM).
The Thorens TD 125 LB (Long Base, large plinth for 12-inch-tonearms) carries the rather rare Rabco SL-8E, a parallel tracking tonearm. Cartridge: Denon DL 103 D.
The Thorens TD 127 is the „big brother“ of the legendary TD 126 (the Mk. II model to be exact), equipped with SME 312 and Denon DL 103 D.
The Thorens TD 124 (first series, Schopper plinth ST-104) carries a SME 3012 and a Denon DL 103 Pro.
The Thorens TD 124/II (large DIY-plinth) carries two tonearms, a SME 3012 and a Fidelity Research FR-64S. Cartridges are Denon DL 103 C1 and Fidelity Research FR-7f. The 124/II also has the Papst motor and the non-magnetic platter.
The Dual 1229 carries either a Denon DL 103 S or a Denon DL 107 (MM), the 1019 is for mono with a Denon DL 102.
Transformer: Denon AU-340. Head-Amp: Denon HA-1000. Phono-preamps: Brinkmann Fein, Pass Pearl with Xono mc-boards.
Amp: Rogers E-20a (integrated tube amplifier, modified to 4x KT66). Speakers are BBC LS3/5a (made by Spendor) – perfect for the size of the room and dedicated partners for the Rogers amp.
Here are some pictures (but not all of them are current).
